Structure and Development of a Gill-Fungus | 2018.
Structure and Development of a Gill-Fungus | Recycled Paper, Wire and Thread | 34cm x 34cm x 7cm | 2018.
A life size study of fungi specimens commonly found in woodlands across Britain and Europe.
The fungi have been hand carved from old book pages and covered with recycled tissue paper to create the cap and gills. The stalk is made from paper mache and the whole thing painted with water colours to create a more realistic and vibrant colour. Moss and undergrowth details around the base of the fungi have been made from reclaimed fabrics and wire and the leaf was made from an old envelope that was hand stitched to create its veins.
The frame is handmade from recycled wood and perspex. It has a wire on the back so it will hang from a wall or can stand on a shelf or mantel piece.
