'Coprinus Comatus' | 2019.
'Coprinus Comatus' | Recycled Paper, Wire and Thread | 34cm x 34cm x 7cm | 2019.
A life size study of the different stages of a Shaggy Inkcap, a common fungi in Britain that disolves its cap in order to spread its spores.
The fungi have been hand carved from old book pages and covered with recycled tissue paper to create the cap and gills. The stalk is made from paper mache and the whole thing painted with water colours to create a more realistic and vibrant colour.
The frames are handmade for each display from solid wood and glass. This particular frame has been made from Ash wood and lightly oiled. It has a wire on the back so it will hang from a wall or can stand on a shelf or mantel piece.
